Yes, it has really been a couple of weeks without a post.  Real life intruded harshly in the form of my day job.  Now that I'm leaning back toward normalcy from that, I can make some new posts.  Bear with me a couple decades, a couple light years. (bonus internet points for the folks who remember/get that)

So in recent years, Halloween and Día de los Muertos have taken on a new meaning for me.  I won't burden you with the details here, but suffice to say I photographed things infrequently and by reflex for 2009 and some of 2010.  But I'm starting to get on board with the idea that my photographic mojo has mostly returned.  I don't get to shoot as much as I'd like and that bothers me at times.  Oh yeah, the blog post.

Follow along closely, this may need a score card.  A good friend of mine introduced me (online) to a friend of hers a year or so ago.  We have tried unsuccessfully to get the three of us together for a photographic opportunity since.  Somehow this fall, the fates intervened so that perhaps we could finally do this.  A Renaissance themed shoot at a great old stone lodge in central Michigan.

Not having ever met any of the attendees save one didn't bother me in the least.  Those that know me, also know that I'm pretty easy going and have had much practice (thanks Uncle Sam) at meeting new people.  Turns out the original friend was unable to make it, but I forged ahead anyway.

I loaded up the the road trip car and headed north on the 19th of October.  The road trip car is a 2005 Corvette and is EPIC level fun.  Just throwing that out there.  Thank you, Zora Arkus Duntov.  With all of the cameras at my disposal, I chose the Leica M9, Nikon D7000, and the mutant beast the DL28 digital medium format.  That one acted up a bit, but I chalk that up to being bounced around in the forest.

These images were made with the M9 and a 1984 vintage 50mm Summicron, the only M lens I took to this shoot.  They are in camera B&W conversions, which I find rich and creamy like frosting.  Mmmm, frosting . . ..

Ingredients for this photo: Danielle, window light, and a Leica.  Mmmm. (Yes, that's two mmms in one post)
