So far, I have had the inclination to check back into facebook all of twice.  It wasn't a very strong pull, as I didn't relent and actually do it.  Primarily because I knew that I would be swimming in derp almost instantly.

But I have also noticed some other things . . ..

I don't spend as much time on any regular/mainstream news outlet, either.  I'm talking TV, internet, wherever it happens to be.  And I count that as a plus, actually.  It is so lopsided that my head hurts from watching or listening.  But when you try and give folks equal time, the right jumps in there with their weapons grade derp.  I understand the longing/need for "traditional" values. but let's face it . . . most of that is centered on outright hate and making people fear things.  It boggles my mind at times that I used to count myself squarely in that camp.

As far as social anything goes:  two of my relatives have spoken to me since my facebook went dark.  But they knew about it ahead of time.  It has only been a week, but there hasn't been a single inquiry via any other means regarding my status or whereabouts.  I can think of at least six people I count as close friends who have numerous ways of contacting me, but perhaps they haven't noticed my absence yet.

I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it, though.  :-)  At any rate, I've taken the first few steps toward finding America.  :-)
