Have you ever visited a memorial?  Have you marveled at the small pieces of their lives that other visitors leave behind?  Visit the Vietnam Memorial, The World Trade Center site in New York.  Maybe even something more regional like Oklahoma City, or Shanksville, Pennsylvania.  Perhaps something even closer to you, like a military unit's tribute to fallen brothers and sisters in arms that you knew.

You'll see what I mean.  At any rate I did give a bit of consideration to what this should be titled.  What one word could describe the vignette into someone else's life that you are likely to encounter at one of these places?  For some reason, the word baubles resonated with me, so baubles, it is.

I was looking through my photo library the other day for something totally unrelated, and found this.  And it dawned on me that I can turn this into a photo project.  I feel like an archaeologist, trying to decipher what significance a particular item has.

So here is the question for you folks that have read this far . . .  I would like to travel to some of these places in the US and photograph these remnants.  What output should I approach the project with?  Gallery sized prints, or a coffee table book?

Oh, and if you have hung in here so far . . .  this is the memorial marker at Manzanar NHS, Independence, California
