Two things to note here:

1. I have used that as a post title on other blogs, it just seems to fit well.

2. A post without a picture?  On a photoblog?  Just remember that this is also a blog.

I have been musing about paring down my kit to the smallest, lightest, highest tech stuff out there as of this writing.  For someone like me accustomed to working with Nikon SLRs, that can only mean the D800e.  Don't get me wrong, I love the files my Leaf back can crank out.  But let's face it, the camera was really designed to be stationary, preferably indoors.  Alas, that doesn't mesh too well with the way I work.

So somewhere in the not too distant future, I can see my minimalist kit as a D800e with a wide to mid telephoto zoom, along with the Sony RX100.  I would supplement that as needed with the M9.  Perhaps one day I will even have a Nocti to put on the front of it.  There will always be a need for other lenses.  I don't foresee parting with a macro lens or my trusty 85mm D any time soon.  But just like any other equipment, there will be different loadouts for different missions.  Gone are the days when I wanted to have every lens in the catalog.  Three or four at the most cover everything I'm inclined to photograph these days.

So be on the lookout for some monumental deals on some of my gently used, pre owned equipment.

Another thing that I have been musing about recently is putting my photography in stasis for a while.  Selling off all of my more expensive gear and pursuing something else entirely.  But at the same time, heading out the door with a camera every day so I won't be the I wish I would have had my camera with me guy is as natural as breathing.

So on that front, I am a bit conflicted.  Any of you wonderful people have any input?
